Aspire Plus is a new, innovative and unique branch of Aspire Coaching Limited.

It focuses on individuals or small groups of pupils that struggle physically, psychologically or emotionally with mainstream primary physical education.

At Aspire, we endeavour to plan and deliver PE lessons that meet the demands and needs of all pupils within the classes we teach, so that they can all progress and achieve their potential. However, we also recognise that it is difficult to give complete focus to those individuals that need that extra attention or encouragement to participate.

We realise there are many varying factors to deter pupils to taking part fully in PE sessions.

These include pupils with;

Anxiety.

Behaviour issues.

Inability to co-operate with peers and deal with competition.

Issues with self-acceptance.

Lack of ability.

Lack of confidence.

Lack of self-esteem.

Lack of confidence.

Lack of self-esteem.

These can all lead to a ‘can’t do, won’t do’ attitude and have sadly been further highlighted and enhanced by the Covid-19 pandemic and the prolonged lockdowns we have all suffered, more so the children.

Aspire Plus is the creation of Laura Birdsall, who has been delivering sessions in different primary schools in Hampshire and West Sussex over the past year with great success. The feedback Laura has received has been uniformly positive and has included many instances of children showing improved confidence and behaviour inside the classroom as well as out in the playground either during play time or during PE lessons. Having spoken to some former and current head teachers, it is felt there is a real need for this type of intervention where the Pupil Premium funding can potentially be used to help benefit children who are behind within the framework of the PE national curriculum.
